The Regional Governor of Attica, Ms Rena Dourou attends the ceremony for the Enthronement of His Eminence Archbishop Elpidophoros of America, the seventh Archbishop of the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese of America, which took place on Saturday June 22, 2019, at the Archdiocesan Cathedral of the Holy Trinity in Manhattan, New York.
The Regional Governor of Attica pointed out that “today first steps have been taken in what is set to be a Mission of major benefits and new perspectives”. “The managerial skills of His Eminence Archbishop Elpidophoros of America, his eloquence, his brilliant course in the Mother Church under extremely difficult conditions are indeed pledges of the unity of the Greek Diaspora, something to be proud of, as well as of the preservation of the Greek language, faith and mindedness abroad” continued Ms Rena Dourou. “I will also like tooffer particular praise for the fact that His Eminence Archbishop Elpidophoros of America is strictly committed to high ideas such as the reopening of our spiritual cradle in Halki, namely the Halki Seminary, formally the Theological School of Halki, the immediate work of rebuilding the Church of Agios Nikolaos at Ground Zero in New York and the establishment of Orthodox communes in America. Yet, above all - as per the statement of His Eminence Archbishop Elpidophoros of America himself - national matters should be part of the things that we share among the Greek Diaspora worldwide, relying on the Greek-American lobby with responsibility and efficiency,” added the Regional Governor of Attica.
