On the occasion of International Women’s Day, the Regional Governor of Attica, Rena Dourou made the following statement: “In this time of multiple crises in Democracy, social rights and gender rights call upon us for strengthening the fight and remaining on high alert. For, patriarchal models are recurring, women’s demands for equality are being disputed, whilst men’s sovereignty returns as a “regularity”. Today, perhaps more than ever, we need to take action to safeguard our acquired rights but also to create new paths for girls, for the next generation. In fine, to prove wrong Pierre Bourdieu who used to highlight that male domination is so deeply rooted in our collective subconscious that we are no longer able to discern it.  Yet, since we have to discern it and fight it, let us take day-to-day actions and day-to-day interventions against inequality and oppression in the workplace, as well as against all kinds of sexist stereotypes, exclusions, vulgarity”.
