The Athens Innovation Festival is becoming again this year's meeting point for the startup ecosystem in Greece.
Specifically, for the second year running, the three-day Athens Innovation Festival (2nd Athens Innovation Festival, AIF 2018), which will be held at theZappeion Hall on 12-14 November 2018, is organised by the Athens Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ACCI) and the Athens Startup Business Incubator (Th.E.A.) in cooperation with the Region of Attica and the Regional Development Fund of Attica, with the intent to bring attention and support to innovative enterprises, researchers and technology actors in Greece.
The Regional Governor of Attica, Rena Dourou, made the following statement:
“In the Region of Attica, since our taking of officein September 2014, we have beensupporting young innovative entrepreneurs.
Demonstrating that Local Authorities can and must act as promoters, helping create the right environment so that young innovative entrepreneurscan deployand reach their full potential, implementing their inspirational ideas.
In parallel with the infrastructure projects that change the face of Attica and the building of a social solidarity network, we are working daily to support start-up businesses. Businesses that focus on innovative entrepreneurship, blue growth, and support for small and medium-sized enterprises.
In this context, we have channelled resources of EUR 200 million from the Attica ROP to finance businesses and initiatives (innovation clusters, etc.) that fall within the areas of the approved Regional Smart Specialization Strategy.
We are selecting strategic synergies with private and public business operators.
We have developed such a synergy with ACCI by supporting young entrepreneurs - the collaboration of the Attica Regional Development Fund and the Athens Startup Business Incubator (Th.E.A.) of the Athens Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ACCI) focuses on creating a coherent framework, ensuring the necessary funding for the implementation of actions such as counselling and networking, which in 2018 has totalled the sum of EUR 180,000.
For the very first time, the Region of Attica is supporting young children at the top international fora of innovation and new technologies.
In Barcelona, Helsinki, Amsterdam, Tel Aviv, and Lisbon.
We are giving awards to young people who make the difference in the Greek start-up industry.
The 2nd Athens Innovation Festival opens new paths for the development of innovative startups in Greece, creating a unique meeting point for exchanging ideas and discussing new opportunities
This year's important event is also linked in a unique way to the Authentic Marathon of Athens. So,just one day after this famous authentic sporting event, we are launching the Athens Innovation Festival. To showcase genuine efforts that attempt to outline the future of the innovative entrepreneurship in Greece.”
