The Regional Governor of Attica held a meeting with the European Commission President Jean Claude Juncker, on Tuesday in Strasbourg, which was mainly focused on the refugee / migrant issue and the actions of the Region of Attica with regard to the handling of this issue.
During this meeting, the Regional Governor stressed the urgent nature of managing a crisis, which is referred as “the worst refugee crisis since World War II”, according to the UN, and informed the Commission President regarding the relative initiatives and interventions that the Region of Attica has proceeded with, such as the creation of the first Logistics Centre in Greece.
The Governor also made concrete proposals to the President of the European Commission, in order “for the Local and Regional Authorities, which are at the forefront of the crisis, become a key factor in establishing a common, collective solution through a coherent and balanced european refugee policy”.
